PC emulator for Playstation 2
PCSX2 is a Playstation 2 emulator for PC.
The PCSX2 project has been running for a little over four years now, and its popularity has grown steadily since its release. From initially just being able to run a few public domain demos, PCSX2's current state enables many games to boot and actually go in-game, such as the famous Final Fantasy X or Devil May Cry 3.
PS2 Emulation is a complex task, far worse than emulating previous generation consoles like the PlayStation 1, N64 or Saturn, simply due to the CPU power required to get 'playable' speeds from a PS2 game under emulation. PCSX2 does the job remarkably well, but don't throw your Playstation 2 away quite yet. It struggles with high-speed action and is prone to freezing or crashing at the most annoying moments.
PCSX2 comes in 2 versions, the TLB and the VM (virtual memory) one. The TLB version is pcsx2t.exe while the VM version is pcsx2.exe. First try running the VM version, following the instructions given (type your account user name, log off/on and restart). If PCSX2 still fails to allocate the memory, simply use the TLB version. Don't worry - the speed difference is not that great. After that, the PCSX2 setup procedure is quite lengthy, although if your Playstation 2 is broken, you'll find this a more than adequate replacement.
PCSX2 is an adequate PS2 emulator. Just don't expect miracles!

A good idea that was poorly executed..
Probably the worst emulator I have ever come across. Does a terrible job at keeping a steady frame rate and not only this but video rendering quality is awful, regardless of the program's plugin settings. After digging deep online for the user manual, I consulted it to adjust the program's plugin settings accordingly to increase performance (do to the constant lag, which rendered any game unplayable) although this had very little impact across 15 different games.I know it's not the fault of my system (Intel i7-3630 @2.4GHz, w/hyperthreading; 16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM; Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 w/ 2GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory) as I have a very good system that will run most modern games at ultra settings with at least a steady 40fps (Alien Isolation, for example runs at 50+fps when the graphics are set as high as they can go).The program's communication with the hardware must be faulty or poorly programmed (probably both). It is a good thing this product is freeware, as I would be hard pressed to pay money for it. It seems it was designed to work on only one (or few) individual systems. Not to mention all the work the user has to do to set this program up properly (and even then it will not run well, even with your GPU selected as the main renderer) which turns many people off. After trying combination after combination after combination of different settings in an attempt to try to get this program to run well on my computer with a steady frame rate, I have concluded that it is pointless to download this software and users are much better advised to just buy a PS2 and any desired games from eBay. Good Emulator takes a little skill to set up.
One you dump your bois and get the plug in's, works really good. Emulation is very good. Just need to do a lot of work on set up and settings to get it work. Like any emulator not all games work. You need to read what games work. (People have forgotten how to read and want everything just point and click now a days.)
Pros:
Very good Emulation. Games I tried have great emulation. Game Play seems to be smooth. Works with my usb controller.
Cons:
Takes a lot of work to set it up. BOIS, plugins, Configure alot of settings. Each pc seems to need a different set up. More

Impossible.
This is not an easy application to use. First you have to get the PS2 BIOS that isn't in the PCSX setup. Apparently it's illegal to download off the net if you don't already own a playstation. I eventually got the BIOS files but I couldn't get the PS2 games to work properly. I downloaded all kinds of plug-ins etc. Not for the faint of heart. If you like hacking and slashing and troubleshooting, you'll love this program. If you don't, I wouldn't bother. I deleted it and am opting for a new PS3.
Pros:
If you're a rocket scientist, you get to play PS games on your PC.
Cons:
If you're not a rocket scientist, it's impossible to get working and isn't any fun. More
